Instruments are objects you can name.
Maple Invest Way is an independent shelf for people who want to see what a share, a bond, a fund, and a listed price actually are. It explains the parts. It is not a broker and it does not say what to buy.
Shelves
Four places a reader can start.
Each shelf names one family of instruments and stops before any instruction about what to hold.
Families
Four words this shelf refuses to mix.
- Share
- A slice of ownership recorded against a company. Not a forecast.
- Bond
- A loan written with a maturity. Not a share wearing another name.
- Fund
- A basket held under a stated rule. Not the assets themselves walking around.
- Price
- A number printed by a market at a moment. Not a fair value certificate.
Rules of the shelf
Five habits before a sentence is kept.
-
Name the instrument.
A share, a bond, a fund unit, and a price stay different words.
-
Cite the public text.
A prospectus, a listing rule, or a textbook is a source, not an ally.
-
Keep the gap.
A missing fee, date, or definition stays missing.
-
Separate the print from the claim.
A price on a screen is not a statement about tomorrow.
-
Stop early.
The page ends before any instruction about what to buy or sell.
How to use a mark
A shelf mark is an address, not a rank.
SH-01 means the shares shelf. It does not mean that shares outrank bonds. The letters name a family. The number names a place in the explanation, oldest idea first inside that family.
- Read the letters. They name the family: shares, bonds, funds, prices, or documents.
- Read the number as an order of explanation, never as a score.
- Open the note. The title is the subject. The date is when the note was written.
- Stop when the note stops. A question at the end is not a task.
Sources
Three kinds of public material.
- Company documents
- Prospectuses and annual reports, read as texts that define terms. Citing one is not a partnership.
- Market explanations
- Public explainers from exchanges and regulators, used to name a mechanism, not to endorse a venue.
- Textbooks and papers
- Academic writing on instruments and market structure, used to separate a word from a sales sentence.
